Meet Puppets Elora
Puppets Elora was founded in 1995 in Elora, Ontario.
It is a not-for-profit group made up of performers with backgrounds in education
and the arts. Members write their own plays, adapted from international
folk and fairy tales, as well as design and build beautifully sculpted
hand puppets, props, and scenery. Performances are entirely live, with a
half-dozen puppeteers manipulating the puppets and providing their
voices. Puppets Elora’s plays are presented on our traditional “Punch and
Judy” style traveling stage. We perform in a wide range of venues,
among them schools, festivals, libraries, museums and heritage sites.
in June,
2009, Puppets Elora acquired a new stage with enhanced light and sound as
well as amplification capabilities, thanks to a generous grant from the Ontario
Trillium Foundation.
